Template Duplicator

Move every caption onto another title template, keeping text and timing.

Scan your Text+ clips, pick a different Fusion title template from the Media Pool, and Template Duplicator rebuilds every caption with it on a new track, with the same text, position and timing. Your original clips stay untouched.

What it does for you

  • A new look for every caption without retyping or retiming anything.
  • Original clips stay as they are, the new ones go on tracks above.
  • Works with any Fusion title template in your Media Pool.

Requirements

  • DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1 or newer (the free version of Resolve blocks script windows).
  • Windows 10/11 and macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon and Intel). One file works on both.
  • Install: copy the .lua file into Resolve's Scripts/Utility folder, then open it from Workspace > Scripts.
  • Tested in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21 on Windows 11. The script also runs on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon). If anything does not work on your Mac, please report it on GitHub or by email.

How to use it

Put the new title template in the Media Pool.

Click Scan to find the Text+ clips.

Pick the template from the list.

Click Duplicate.
